Abstract: A patch is presented by which most users of EDU25 (version 03.00) may cause the distinction

between permanent and non-permanent programs and data files to be transparent for most operations. The

use of the $ symbol becomes unnecessary, except for operations in which the permanent program or data

file of a given name must be selected in preference to a non-permanent file of the same name.
