There are five models of DECmate, or four if you insist they were called DECmates: The VT78 is an Intersil 6100 CPU inside a VT52 chassis. It generally came with RX02 floppies in a desk-height tower. The VT278/DECmate (no Roman Numeral) was a 32K Intersil 6120 CPU inside a VT100 chassis. (Some folks now call it the DECmate I.) Also supported RX02, either on the desktop or in a desk-height tower. An RL02 option also existed, though not a lot is known about it. The PC278/DECmate II was a large desktop PC, with a 32K 6120 CPU, a VR201 monitor, an LK201 keyboard, and dual RX50 floppy. Options included support for an MFM hard disk or RX01/RX02, and/or a co-processor. Two co-processors exist, with the APU running CP/M, and the rate XPU running either CP/M or MS-DOS 2.11. There is also a rare graphics board, with support for monochrome on the VR201, or 16 colors on the VT241. The PC238/DECmate III has a smaller case, like a tall version of a small desktop. It allegedly had options for graphics and a CP/M co-processor. The PC24P/DECmate III+ was very similar to the PC238, but included an ST-225 hard disk. The floppies were TEAC drives, though the format is the same as the RX50.
